 Re: Indie-Rap
Mike Mictlan & Lazerbeak - Hand Over FistCode: Hand Over Fist is the latest project album to come out of the Doomtree camp and features the Murder Maker, Mictlan on raps and beats by the currently untouchable Lazerbeak on their self titled effort. With the Doomtree crew album showcasing exactly what the Minnesotan crew are all about, Mictlan kicks the driver of the run away train out of the cabin and puts a brick on the accelerator.

 Re: Indie-Rap
Quote: He is the only rapper with his own music festival. Each album he releases sells more than its predecessor. He toured the world without having a major record deal. So, there’s a reason why independent rap stalwart Murs decided to name his major label debut album Murs For President (Love And Rockets). Murs wants to be rap’s leader and spokesperson, the artist who helps give rap a credible face to fans, the media and critics. After all, the Los Angeles rapper is articulate and well read. He doesn’t use drugs and his platform consists of peace, love, unity and having fun. Quote: 01. Intro 02. I’m Innocent 03. Lookin’ Fly feat. will.i.am 04. The Science 05. w00t. Hello to all! New to this site, as I'm sure you can tell, and just wanted to take part in this conversation and thank you all for posting these albums. More specifically, that Mike Mictlan + Lazerbeak album. I've been waiting for that one for a looong time now and haven't been let down. The last track on that album is instant classic in my books.
Anyone a Sixtoo fan? Reanimator? I got a TON of albums old and new if anyone has suggestions I could do my best to post them. Thanks again and good day.

 Re: Indie-Rap
Haven't listened to Restiform Bodies yet, but that Noah23 has some of the greatest songs in rap I've heard in.. literally ages. His "dead end game featuring Staple" song is pure ACE. This guy is a genius. There's one song I dislike and it's the one he's with Athena. I don't like female rappers. Don't really like the pinball song, but it's really creative. (out of 23 songs, only two I dislike.. awesome)

Yeah it's fucking rock solid, and if you look at who's featured (both MC-wise and producer-wise), it reads like a who's who of the real underground. With people like Subtitle, Moduluk, Staplemouth, Epic, Sole, K-The-I???, Wordburglar, Hangnail, Naval Avatar, Factor, Josh Martinez, Ceschi, MadadaM, etc. etc., how can you go wrong??? As for the Factor-produced jawn ("True Romance"), LOVED it. I got mad love for Athena, shits all over dessa and pretty much any other femcee (aside from Penny). I love how they sample Warcloud aka Holocaust at the end of "Toy Story", DOPE.
As for the new Restiform Bodies, it's dreadful. Absolute garbage. Let us never speak of it again.

 Re: Indie-Rap
You got anything by Staplemouth? Does it sound anything like his song with Noah? The shit's too good. I'll give the Restiform Bodies a try, but I'm really.. hard to please when it comes to rap or hip hop, I only like very few artists.

I have to say that the Restiform Bodies is a letdown. I really like one song 'Pick it up, drop it" but the rest is garbage (sounds like dark pop music with a bit of rap).
Are Noah23's other albums (if he has any) as good as this recent one?

 Re: Indie-Rap
Try the following, 2002's "Quicksand" and 2004's "Jupiter Sajitarius", the best of his previous releases. Quicksand is pure dopeness, the production by Orphan is incredible on this record. I've listened to the first 5/6 tracks off the new Noah23 and i'm not impressed. the beats are boring and his flow is annoying. It sounds like an album that Pitchfork would probably love off.
But hey, what do I know? I know shit about the 'real underground' apparently. Must suck to be me.
